Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park Review - Day 7
Typhoon Lagoon - Our Disney Trip Day 7
Within Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, Typhoon Lagoon is a Disney water park that offers visitors an unforgettable day of excitement, relaxation, and adventure. With exhilarating water rides and a sprawling lazy river, Typhoon Lagoon is a great time for water lovers of all ages.
This was our first visit to Disney World’s water parks, and it truly made for a memorable experience. Arriving early is recommended to enjoy shorter wait times and make the most of the day. Be sure to check the park hours in advance, as Disney’s water parks were open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during our visit.
Currently, Disney alternates between Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, so when we were there, Disney’s Blizzard Beach was temporarily closed. Depending on your desires, an entire day can be spent at Typhoon Lagoon.
Typhoon Lagoon Wave Pool
Typhoon Lagoon's theme centers around a massive storm that has swept through, creating a tropical, shipwrecked atmosphere. The park boasts one of the largest wave pools in North America, where guests can experience the thrill of bobbing up and down on powerful waves.
Whether you're looking to catch a wave or simply soak up the sun on the sandy beach, the huge Typhoon Lagoon wave pool is a must-visit attraction. The Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool (wave pool) is where my kids spend most of the day. My kids spent hours in this massive wave pool, riding the powerful swells.
I’d recommend the wave pool for older kids and strong swimmers, as the waves are intense. With plenty of beach chairs nearby, adults can relax while keeping an eye on their kids. My kids have seen their fair share of water parks and wave pools, but this one had some serious waves and is huge!
My kids are a bit older, so they didn't need me in the wave pool with them, I just needed to keep a general eye on them. There are many beach chairs near the wave pool, which is a great way for adults to have a relaxing time while the kids are having fun. My son loved this wave pool; he didn't want to leave! To him, the water park day was so great that he wanted to return the next morning, largely in part due to the wave pool. For our family, the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool was the highlight of the park.
Typhoon Lagoon Rides
For adrenaline seekers, Typhoon Lagoon offers a range of thrilling water slides and attractions. From the Crush 'n' Gusher water coaster to the Humunga Kowabunga speed slide, there’s no shortage of heart-pounding fun. Miss Adventure Falls, a family raft ride, takes guests on an exciting journey through waterfalls and mysterious caverns.
My kids rode most of the water slides twice, as the lines were pretty short. I was a bit concerned about the lines for the water slides, but most had short wait times. If you want to avoid long lines, the best time to ride the water slides is first thing in the morning or closer to when the water park closes. As the day went on, around 3 pm the park emptied out significantly.
Families with little kids will also find plenty of enjoyable activities at Typhoo Lagoon. Keelhaul Falls and Mayday Falls offer fun yet accessible slide experiences for all ages. For younger children.
Ketchakiddee Creek is a play area that features pint-sized slides, fountains, and waterfalls, ensuring everyone in the family can make the most of the day. If you need a break from the excitement, Typhoon Lagoon also provides ample opportunities for relaxation.
Grab a tube and float down Castaway Creek, a peaceful lazy river that winds its way around the park, allowing guests to unwind and take in the tropical surroundings. The lazy river at Typhoon Lagoon, one of the longest I’ve seen, circles the park’s perimeter, offering a relaxing, scenic ride that’s perfect for unwinding.
The lazy river goes around the perimeter of the park, making for a long ride without having to go around again. It was fun, with some waterfalls areas. The river generally wasn't too crowded, and you were able to actually be lazy in this lazy river.
Food Options at Typhoon Lagoon
When hunger strikes, head to one of the Typhoon Lagoon's food locations to refuel with a variety of quick-service restaurants at the park. Typhoon Lilly's offers sandwiches, fish platters, and some salads. Leaning Palms offers a wider variety of foods, including vegetarian options.
There are also refillable mugs available (for $12.99 currently), which can be filled at soda machines throughout the park. Ice cream treats were also available at various locations throughout that park, including Mickey Bars.
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to cool off and have fun in the sun. With Typhoon Lagoon rides, family-friendly attractions, and peaceful retreats, it is lots of fun for everyone. Whether you're seeking heart-pounding excitement or a peaceful retreat, Typhoon Lagoon is a great way to spend a day on your Disney Vacation.
Unlike other Disney parks, it has a more laid-back atmosphere, making it perfect for a relaxing day on your Disney vacation. You are able to do the whole park in a day. Although I had planned only one day at the water park, my kids enjoyed it so much that we ended up spending an additional half day at Typhoon Lagoon.
While it may not have as much Disney-themed decor, it’s an impressive and fun-filled water park experience. The park hours vary during the year, so be sure to check the My Disney Experience App for the hours on the day of your visit, When we visited the parks, the water park closed at 5, which leaves time to park hop to Magic Kingdom or other Disney theme parks.
